MINISTRY OF PUBLIC EDUCATION DISCUSSES EDUCATIONAL COOPERATION BETWEEN THE AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA TO UZBEKISTAN

A meeting with the delegation of the Republic of Korea was held on September 16 at the Ministry of Public Education. The meeting was attended by Minister of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Kang Jie Kwon and officials of both sides.

During the meeting, it was noted that the experience of cooperation between the two countries in the development of education over the past years has been fruitful, and joint projects are yielding positive results.

At the same time, detailed information was provided on current educational projects being implemented jointly with the Korean side.

It was noted that a Korean company KT won a tender to equip secondary schools with computers and delivered 2,859 computer classrooms. An additional 951 computer classrooms will be delivered to schools this year at a cost of more than $ 1 billion. The Republic of Korea is currently working on projects to attract additional investment to the education system in Uzbekistan. In turn, Ambassador Kang Jie Kwon stressed the strategic importance of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, as well as the fact that in the event of a pandemic, the two countries worked in full support of each other.

Ambassador Kang Jie Kwon stressed that the development of education, support for the younger generation and the creation of favorable conditions for their comprehensive development is a priority for both Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea. According to him, projects on equipping schools with computers, high technology, digitalization and ICT development will be developed and implemented in the future.

Touching upon future plans, the Minister of Public Education paid special attention to the issues of continuing the education of graduates of the Republic of Korea in prestigious higher education institutions by improving the level of learning the Korean language among Uzbek students. In view of the above, the Minister suggested cooperating in the implementation of new grants, scholarships or exchange programs for students.

The Ambassador stressed the importance of the measures taken in the field of education in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to consider proposals for further cooperation in the field of public education.
