On May 25, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan discussed the progress of reforms in school education.
It is known that recently, by the presidential decree of May 11, the national program for the development of public education in 2022-2026 was approved. It identifies topical areas for improving the quality of education based on best international practices, raising the prestige of the teaching profession, developing inclusive education, vocational guidance of students, improving infrastructure, digitalization of the industry. Each of these directions consists of dozens of specific tasks. They are based on "road maps" developed in each district and city.
At the meeting, the Minister of Public Education reported on the work done in this regard and plans for the next school year.
First of all, the issues of introducing a new national program into the educational process were considered. In particular, this year it is planned to create textbooks, exercise books and textbooks for grades 3, 6, 7 and 10, and for 2023-2024 for grades 4, 5, 8, 9 and 11.
The head of our state stressed the need to form a working group of foreign experts and researchers to prepare high-quality textbooks.
The national program pays special attention to raising the prestige of teachers in society. This requires the training of highly educated and skilled, modern personnel. For this purpose, the Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami and its educational and scientific organizations were transferred to the Ministry of Public Education.
The meeting gave instructions on the transformation of pedagogical education, improving university admission, increasing scientific capacity and linking learning with practice.
Speaking about improving the professional skills of teachers and training them in new methods, it was noted that it is necessary to expand the activities of the National Research Institute named after Abdullah Avloni and integrate it with pedagogical schools in the regions. Starting from the next academic year, a professional certification system for teachers of chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics will be launched.
The President touched upon the issue of proper selection of school principals, development of their professional and managerial skills. He stressed the importance of education along with education.
- Spirituality begins at school. As much as we pay attention to the quality of education in schools, we should pay attention to spirituality, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
To this end, it was recommended to create spirituality books for different age groups, which would increase the outlook and talents of students.
The development of out-of-school education was also discussed. The task is to develop a five-year program to improve the activities and infrastructure of Barkamol Avlod schools, including the establishment of STEAM clubs.
