On November 25, the Ministry of Public Education hosted a meeting with Fadiya Saada, the World Bank Regional Director for Human Development in Europe and Central Asia.
During the meeting, First Deputy Minister Usmon Sharifkhodjayev talked with Fadiya Saada, World Bank Representative, about current projects being implemented in Uzbekistan with the financial support of the World Bank.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the World Bank's assistance in the development of human capital in our country, including support in the reform of education and social spheres.
The parties considered opportunities to expand cooperation in relevant fields.
Afterwards, officials from the Ministry of Public Education and Ms. Saada visited Secondary School No. 20 in Tashkent to learn about the conditions created for students at the school. After a close conversation with the school staff, the boys and girls studying at the school were presented with books on various topics.
Today, the World Bank's program in Uzbekistan is the second largest in Europe and Asia, after Turkey. As of November 1, the program has a total value of about $ 4.8 billion. It consists of 26 projects worth US $.
These projects cover a number of areas of government socio-economic development, including macroeconomic reforms, agricultural modernization, water management, irrigation and drainage systems development, health, education, water supply, energy, transport, social protection, and urban development. and rural infrastructure, the national innovation system, tax administration, and mitigation of the pandemic's impact on public health and the country's economy.
