MINISTER OF PUBLIC EDUCATION DISCUSSES EXPANSION OF COOPERATION WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF GERMANY, INCLUDING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN GERMAN LANGUAGE

Minister of Public Education Sherzod Shermatov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uzbekistan Tilo Kliner. During the meeting, the sides discussed the high level of cooperation between the two countries, and therefore the issues of further development of relations in the field of education.

The ambassador noted that today Uzbek students are the first in Central Asia in terms of interest in the German language, and expressed readiness to further enhance the contacts in the field of education. It should be noted that today in 1139 schools of Uzbekistan about 300 thousand students study German as a foreign language.

During the meeting, it was proposed to develop a comprehensive joint program for learning German, including increasing the number of teachers from Germany, creating new textbooks, organizing language certification of German language teachers and sending more graduates to German universities.

In view of the above, the Minister requested assistance in regularly informing students or teachers about new grants, scholarships or exchange programs, and thanked them for their direct support and assistance in the development of public education in Uzbekistan.

Emphasizing the importance of events in the field of education in Uzbekistan, the Ambassador expressed readiness for further cooperation in the field of public education and consideration of further proposals for cooperation.
